Try this elevated twist to burger night. These are also great when you need a quick appetiser. Once assembled, they are seared for about two minutes per side.
Seared Tuna Burgers with Wasabi Mayonnaise
Serves 4
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds tuna fillet, finely chopped in the processor
Freshly ground pepper
1 minced shallot
2 tablespoons soy sauce or Tamari
1/2 cup mayonnaise or plain yogurt
2 teaspoons wasabi powder mixed with 1 tablespoon of water
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon peanut or vegetable oil
Procedure
- Combine the tuna with the pepper, shallot and soy sauce in a medium bowl. Shape into 4 equal patties.
- In a small bowl combine the mayonnaise, wasabi powder paste and cilantro. Add the salt and pepper to taste. Chill.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the oil. Add the tuna burgers and sear until the outside is browned and crispy about 2 minutes on each side. Remove the tuna burgers to a plate.
- Spoon a dollop of the mayonnaise on top of each. Serve with a side salad.
